I had no idea that Joseph was approached by his bosses wife and when he refused to sleep with her, she framed him for rape and he was imprisoned for years.
Joseph prepares Egypt for seven years of famine by storing a little bit of what came in during seven years of feast.
I find, even now at my age, that I stagger from feast to famine and back again – like a yoyo.
I try and save and it just doesn’t happen.
But Joseph shows me something. Joseph does it because he is level headed enough to keep sight of the famine ahead.
Not that he’s a miser – he enjoys himself! He does it out of a sense of responsibility to himself and to those around him.
I think this year I’m going to focus on saving. Something here, something there, however little.
And see how that goes.
